Curriculum vitae
Benjamin (Ben) Lvovsky
Senior Solution Architect — Cloud, Integration & Master Data
I create the solution, not just the diagram. Thirty years in enterprise
software, the last decade in cloud. Strongest where a problem crosses several systems and
several teams, and where someone has to decide what actually gets built.

Current work
Senior Solution Architect Slater and Gordon
Aug 2025 – present
Architect for the Legal Practice Systems transformation, across Azure, AWS
and on-premises systems — ShareDo, MatterSphere, Aderant and Salesforce. The architecture is
approved, the first horizon is in production and the next horizons are approved for roll-out;
I have now moved on to the firm’s triage and booking project.
- Proposed and designed the firm’s master data platform — my own concept, approved as the
firm’s architecture direction for client and contact data, with the first horizon in
production and the full roll-out of about a million records approved for the next horizons.
Built on Azure rather than bought as a packaged product.
- Author and owner of the firm’s Azure cloud and integration strategy, written for approval
by the CTO, Head of IT and Information Security Officer — identity and zero-trust networking,
API management as the integration hub, Service Bus messaging, recovery objectives, data
residency, FinOps and a roadmap that includes decommissioning AWS.
- Designed the governance model that makes the platform the sole system of record: other
systems submit create and update requests, the platform decides through matching and
survivorship rules and distributes the canonical record, and no consumer writes to it
directly.
- Wrote the technical design for the full roll-out — one owned gateway to the finance
system, a bulk-load pipeline sized for a million records, a generic asynchronous interface in
place of bespoke adaptors, and observability defined as code — and designed hub-and-spoke
synchronisation across five systems on Azure Service Bus.
- Designed and proved the initial load myself: a validated full run in UAT consolidated
1,039,896 source records into 969,795 master documents in 17 minutes with zero load errors,
after I made the load stage 6.4 times faster, on infrastructure that shuts down when
idle.
- Diagnosed why 18% of contacts chained into one deduplication cluster — shared professional
contact details linking unrelated people — and fixed it with name-scoped blocking, making
deduplication 2.6 times faster.
- Proposed a firm-owned redesign of the national settlements workflow after code analysis
showed every billing step after approval was being re-keyed into the finance system by
hand.
- Ran the architecture review before the first production release — six risks and a
managed-identity audit across 10 services — and wrote the system-to-system authentication
guide and cloud engineering standards the delivery teams build to.
Experience
Head of Cloud iSelect, Corporate Travel Management group
Mar 2025 – Aug 2025
Led the cloud and DevSecOps function — seven people across AWS and Azure.
- Brought the function back in-house from an outsourced model, running the knowledge
transfer and establishing the documentation practice that had not previously existed.
- Restructured the AWS multi-account organisation, resolving long-standing inefficiencies
in resource use and account design.
- Migrated CI/CD from Jenkins to GitHub Enterprise — platform selection, OIDC-based AWS
connectivity, and IAM roles and trust relationships for cross-account deployment with no
long-lived credentials.
- Repositioned the team as a technical enablement hub for product teams: standards,
consultation and internal education rather than a ticket queue.
Technical Lead iSelect
Jan 2024 – Mar 2025
Owned the internal shared services, including the Lead Generator system
integrating MySQL, PostgreSQL and MS SQL. Built a real-time pipeline on Amazon Kinesis with
DynamoDB storage feeding Salesforce and the data lake.
Senior Software Engineer Leidos Australia
Jun 2022 – Jan 2024
Bureau of Meteorology programs. Java Spring Boot microservices on OpenShift
with PostgreSQL, Solr and Kafka; integration via Apache NiFi and Camel; deployment automation
and test suites in Python, Ansible provisioning, Kibana, GitLab CI.
IT Manager & Solution Architect Ubertas Financial Group / TwigTech
Nov 2018 – Jun 2022
IT for the Ubertas group, and the architect and delivery lead who built
TwigTech — a property management platform on AWS covering trust accounting and short-stay
distribution across Airbnb, Expedia and other OTAs.
- Took the product from nothing to a live commercial platform — architecture, data design
and hands-on delivery — as fault-tolerant serverless microservices on AWS.
- Built the engineering team from zero: hired locally, established and managed an offshore
arm, and ran code review and mentoring while staying hands-on myself.
- Created card-to-crypto and bank-to-crypto payment services for the group.
- Reported to the Managing Director and C-level directly on both technical and commercial
decisions.
Solutions Architect / Senior Developer (contract) Australia Post
Nov 2017 – Nov 2018
Modernisation of enterprise systems across several microservices projects.
LDAP, Oracle, Java 8, Spring Boot, Docker, WebLogic.

Research and projects
- Machine Learning for Financial Markets — ml.lvovsky.com.
Supervised learning over roughly 330 attributes — moving averages of major commodities, world
indices, FX and calendar effects — producing instrument predictions ranked by correlation and
error. SVM with a Gaussian classifier, GPU-accelerated C++, Python and PostgreSQL.
- Markowitz efficient portfolio optimisation with the capital market line —
github.com/benlvovsky/markowitz.
Interactive efficient frontier over 116 cross-asset ETFs; the quadratic program is solved in
a Python pipeline and read by a static front end.
- Writing — these essays, on the
non-code parts of engineering: incentives, architecture decisions that quietly become
permanent, and incidents misdiagnosed for months.
